Nineteen of the Russian's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a former world number one, has endured a challenging season, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface after that period of the previous year.

Victory also means the Russian has secured 21 championships at twenty-one various tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is particularly special," said ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event in the past months.

The player's counter-punching approach and recurring reactions on court had caused commentators to question if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

But the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and compete aggressively, backed up by an better service.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first professional title, gained dominance to create a third set.

Moutet defended four early chances in a competitive final set before the champion won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner earned the title with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
